Full Moon Ritual with Sacred Cacao Elixir

It’s Full Moon Ritual time! There’s no surprise that the full moon would rise on the first day of the New Year.

The full moon represents completion so if there’s any unfinished business from 2017 that’s keeping you down, now is a good time to let it go.

I've put a little spin on the Ayurvedic "Ojas" drink to create a Sacred Cacao Elixir you're sure to love. Below, you will also find a small releasing meditation to bid adieu to the previous year.

A word of Caution: Cacao is a highly energizing food so enjoy this Elixir before 6:00 pm and only drink a small amount if you have any sensitivity to sleep.

If you’re really sensitive to sleep, forgo the Cacao altogether and opt for a cup of Kava kava tea ☕️ instead.

Recipe: 
- 32 ounces of Almond milk (or any milk you would like)
- 6 to 8 generous tbs of Cacao powder

- 2-4 tbs of ghee (clarified butter can be purchased at Sprouts or Whole Foods)

- 2 tsp of dried rose petals 🥀 (buy at herb store)

- 2 generous pinches of cinnamon

- Honey or coconut nectar to taste

Need: saucepan and high powered blender. 
A piece of paper and a pen.

Instructions:
Heat up milk slowly in a saucepan. Add ghee and stir gently. Add honey. Add Cacao slowly and stir. It’s ok if it’s lumpy.

Transfer 1/3 of the contents to a blender. Add cinnamon and rose petals. Blend on low and then increase speed. Make sure all the rose petals are blended up and milk is smooth. They should not be floating around. Add the rest of the milk to blender.

This Elixir will hold up for several days. Store in a large mason jar and enjoy cold (or warm it up) each day. Try replacing your coffee with it.

To continue your Full Moon Ritual, 
Pour yourself 1/2 cup of this nourishing Elixir and grab your pen and paper, your favorite grounding essential oil (I like frankincense for this) then head outside to sit under the full moon.

Meditation: 
Place your essential oil on your temple and wrist. Drop a few in the palm of your hand and rub together; inhale and exhale 2-3 times with full belly breaths. 
Sitting upright in a comfortable seated position, place your non-dominant hand over your heart and your opposite hand on your knee to help ground you. 
Begin deep breathing again. Repeat a mantra or affirming words to help release and complete the cycle of unfinished business. Continue for 5 minutes.

Next, write the 2 or 3 things that are still lingering behind from 2017. Maybe you’ve yet to forgive someone... capture what comes to mind without censoring it. Make a commitment to let those things leave your field. You’ve done your best; now it's time to let the past go. 

Finally, take a match and burn up the paper. Fire can help to transform what needs to be changed. Let the ashes fall. Let the new beginnings come in.
